Targetti lighting solutions illuminates the “stories” of the Grand Canal Museum in Yangzhou, China.Located in Yangzhou's Sanwan Park - Jiangsu Province - China, the
Grand Canal Museum is the first modern comprehensive canal-themed museum in China.
It stands on the bank of the ancient Grand Canal in Yangzhou, covering an area of about
80,000 square meters. The main building consists of a new Tang-style museum and a canal tower resembling a huge ship.
The Grand Canal is an extensive system of waterways and one of the oldest and longest canals in the world. It runs for 1,794 kilometers from Beijing to Hangzhou.
On June 16th, 2021, the Museum officially opened its door: the first modern museum in China that integrates cultural relics protection, scientific research and social education.
The 9 thematic exhibitions and more than
10,000 pieces in display, just like an encyclopedia, tell the world the stories and the "Chinese Wisdom" of the Grand Canal.
The Museum collects and exhibits thousands of cultural relics and historical data, fully demonstrating the position and function of the Grand Canal in the history of the development of the Chinese nation.
In addition, the exhibition offers visitors the opportunity to appreciate the history and culture of major world Canals and canal cities. A unique hall gather together many different pieces: Carnival masks and a gondola from Venice, models of Amsterdam's canal houses, sculptures from Thailand and many other pieces from all over the world.
